After the tornadoes in Oklahoma, St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance sent four semi-trucks full of disaster relief in the form of food and water to those hit hardest. Cox Communications saw this donation and decided they wanted to help replenish the stock of drinking water for the Food Bank.
CBS 5 viewers Pay It Forward to Make Hunger Disappear
More than $108,000 was collected during the first annual Pay It Forward: FEED OUR CHILDREN campaign hosted by CBS 5, benefiting St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. Enough donations were raised to provide over 764,000 meals to families in need.
Food and water sent to tornado victims in Oklahoma
While the country watched the devastation in Oklahoma caused by the tornadoes unfold on television, the resources of St. Mary’s Food Bank began to be marshaled to provide relief to the thousands of people affected by the disaster. The Food Bank will be sending emergency food boxes, bottled water, ready-to-eat snack products, instant oatmeal, personal hygiene items and anything else we are requested by the Feeding America disaster response team.
