The Daily Platter is the blog of St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, located in Phoenix, Arizona.
The season for grapefruits, lemons and oranges is almost here. If you have more citrus that you can use, donate it to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. We’ll even pick it for you!
Your donation of citrus provides a vital, supplemental food source for those less fortunate individuals who receive support through St. Mary’s and our agency partners. This year we will be using a combined crew of seasonal employees and volunteers to glean your property, and it is our goal to provide you with an informed, professional, and efficient gleaning experience. We look forward to a great gleaning season this year, and we thank you in advance for your citrus donation and support to the food bank.
The price for having your citrus trees gleaned this year is $20 per tree and $25 for any tree over 20feet. You will be provided with an invoice for the cost of gleaning at the time your trees are gleaned. You can mail your payment to St. Mary’s Food Bank at your convenience. No cash, checks, or credit cards will be accepted by the field crews. Registrations for gleaning will not be accepted after December 13, 2013. (Revision: Registrations are now being accepted until January 10, 2014!)
Zip Code Restrictions
Due to limited gleaning resources, we are forced to restrict our gleaning service area to the following zip codes: 85018, 85251, 85351, 85373, 85374, and 85375.
Registration Note: Each gleaning location must be registered separately—please do not combine gleaning sites.
