Veronica said, “It’s hard to pay bills sometimes. There have been many times I’ve struggled.”
Working at a hospital for the last two years, Veronica checks in patients at the front desk. She likes the work and the interaction with the new patients. As a single mother, Veronica struggles with her household budget and with trying to put food on the table every day. The house is full of love with her step-daughter, daughter and granddaughter, it is just lacking food sometimes. She is taking care of everyone by herself and because of her part-time job, she does not qualify for any government assistance.
Veronica turned to St. Mary’s Food Bank. Taking advantage of our Mobile Pantry program, she can gather food in an ‘open air’ model close to her house and choose fresh fruits and vegetable, meat, bread, and so much more. Veronica’s two-year-old granddaughter loves the fresh fruit! Today Veronica is most appreciative of the available meat and the bottled water. “It’s great because it’s getting warm outside.”
As Veronica and her small granddaughter walked away, Veronica said, “Thank you for taking time out and helping and being considerate of others.”
