PHOENIX – To support Hunger Action Month and St. Mary’s Food Bank’s Hurricane Harvey relief efforts, all Valley Arby’s locations will offer a free Classic Roast Beef Sandwich to anyone who donates $1 or more to St. Mary’s Food Bank on Tuesday, Sept. 5.
Arby’s, the official sponsor of the St. Mary’s Hunger Action calendar, will match all donations made that day up to $50,000. The first truck loaded with food and toiletry items was delivered to food banks in Corpus Christi and Victoria, TX earlier this week and a second truck will be headed to Hurricane Harvey relief victims in the next few days carrying much-needed supplies to those left devastated by this disaster.
Arby’s employees will be volunteering at a St. Mary’s Mobile Pantry site at Mercy Hill Church (745 West Fillmore Street in Phoenix) on Tuesday, Sept. 5, distributing food to more than 300 families that visit that site each Tuesday. Arby’s will also make a presentation to St. Mary’s and urge everyone to take advantage of the great deal all day at their more than 40 Valley locations.
St. Mary’s warehouses were already depleted after distributing food during this long, hot summer and, after responding to the hurricane relief efforts, are in need of replenishing. Most needed items include peanut butter, canned fruits and vegetables, canned beans and ready-to-eat, pop top meals in a can.
“We are so grateful to Arby’s for stepping up and supporting St. Mary’s Food Bank in both our daily efforts to feed Arizona’s hungry and in our role as first responders to national disaster,” St. Mary’s President and CEO Tom Kertis said. “Arby’s is a Hunger Hero in every sense of the word and we ask everyone to support this incredible effort.”
