The Food Bank would like to thank all the employees and management of Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold – one of St. Mary’s true “Hunger Heroes,” for their most recent donations of food, time and money during this summer.
The employees engaged in a friendly competition, pitting the different floors of the main office in downtown Phoenix against each other to see who could collect the most non-perishable food and funds to help fight hunger in our state. And including matching financial donation by Freeport-McMoRan corporate, the finals enough food and funds were collected to allow St. Mary’s to distribute 46,877 meals into the community!
Freeport-McMoRan didn’t stop there. More than 20 employee were at the St. Mary’s warehouse on June 28, donating their time to pack fruits, potatoes and other items to stock the emergency food boxes that are so important to so many in need. And another group of volunteers will be back on July 17 to continue the effort.
Thank you, Freeport-McMoRan for being a St. Mary’s Hunger Hero and helping to “Send Childhood Hunger Packing” this summer.
