St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, the world’s first food bank, has distributed more than 700 million pounds of food to the hungry of Arizona and has served as the blueprint for how food banks across the United States and across the world have been entrusted with the task of effectively distributing food to this in need
St. Mary’s disperses donated food across the state of Arizona with 330 partner agencies at approximately 430 sites, including domestic violence shelters, dining halls, schools, churches, children’s shelters, food pantries, halfway houses, and senior centers.
Our primary service area covers 81,000 square miles and includes two-thirds of Maricopa County and all of Northern Arizona, including Yavapai, Gila, Coconino, Apache, Navajo, and Mohave Counties. In the Northern Arizona communities, the Food Bank distributed almost 12 million pounds of food in Fiscal Year 2011-12, an increase of nearly 10 percent over the previous year.
