Fry’s Food Stores continues its generous support of St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance – and the effort to Send Childhood Hunger Packing this summer – by donating a truckload of food containing more than 31,000 pounds of Kellogg’s products to the Del E. Webb Distribution Center on June 4.
Volunteers from Fry’s Food Store unload a truck packed with nutritious and much-needed food valued at more than $100,000, donated as part of Fry’s Food Stores and Kroger’s national “Bringing Hope to the Table” campaign. Since 2006, the program has generated more than $18 million in funds and $7 million in food donations to food banks across the country.
“Through our annual Bringing Hope to the Table campaign, Fry’s is thrilled to donate a semi-truck load of nutritious Kellogg products to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance,” said Jon Flora, President of Fry’s Food Stores. “We pride ourselves in bringing hope to the table of our hungry neighbors, not only through this donation but through cash contributions from our company, daily food rescue program donations, food drives and coin canisters, which provided more than eight million meals in Arizona last year.”
Just in 2012 alone, Fry’s Food Stores is making its third major donation to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. In February, Fry’s and its generous customers raised 695 tons of food for Arizonans in need to coincide with the state’s Centennial birthday celebration. A month later, Fry’s secured a $25,000 grant through Kraft Foods’ “Huddle for Hunger” program to help St. Mary’s and its agencies expand services to those in need in northern Arizona.
“We are so grateful to Fry’s Food Stores and Kroger for their continued and support of food banks across the country and in particular the battle against hunger here in Arizona,” said Beverly Damore, new President and CEO of St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. “Truly one of St. Mary’s ‘Hunger Heroes,’ the combined donations of time, money and food by Fry’s and its employees highlight a commitment to the community, and how important they see our mission of feeding those in need to be.”
