Food and water sent to tornado victims in Oklahoma

While the country watched the devastation in Oklahoma caused by the tornadoes unfold on television, the resources of St. Mary’s Food Bank began to be marshaled to provide relief to the thousands of people affected by the disaster. The Food Bank will be sending emergency food boxes, bottled water, ready-to-eat snack products, instant oatmeal, personal hygiene items and anything else we are requested by the Feeding America disaster response team.

As a first responder food bank, St. Mary’s is always on call to help out fellow food banks in need during emergency situations. The Feeding America network of food banks work together when national disasters strike, and at a minimum we will be sending four truck loads of food and water to Oklahoma as soon as possible.

You can help the disaster relief program by restocking our shelves during this critical time of year.  Collect and donate bottled water or non-perishable food items, or donate funds online at www.FirstFoodBank.org.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims in Oklahoma.
