Donating

St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance distributes everything, avocados to powdered milk, chicken breasts to laundry detergent for partner agencies. In addition to food items, perishable and non-perishable, there always is a high demand for personal care, baby items and household products. In order to keep costs to a minimum, the Food Bank relies on distributors, wholesalers, manufacturers and growers to donate these items.

Benefits of Donating

  • No Liability - The Bill Emerson Good Samaritan Food Donor Act of 1996 protects donors from liability. The Arizona Good Samaritan Law has been in effect since 1969.

  • Reduces Storage and Disposal Cost - The Food Bank will pick up your donation, eliminating transportation and waste management fees.

  • Good Public Relations - Donating generates positive publicity, demonstrating corporate citizenship and a commitment to improving lives within the community.

  • Tax Write-Off - Donations are 100 percent tax-deductible. (IRS #23-7353532)

  • Employee Morale - Employees feel better about working for an organization that feeds people in need rather than disposing of usable products.
