Each month, the Food Bank distributes more than five million pounds of
perishable food, free of charge, to hundreds of our partner agencies. Sites
include senior centers, community centers, domestic violence shelters, and
transitional homes. Agency representatives are able to select the food that
best meets the needs of their clients.
By 2016, it is projected that 1.15 million people in Arizona will live in pverty
and need our help. In order to provide nutritious food to the agencies that
serve them, we will renovate our 31st Avenue location to become the food
box production center for all locations; add 6,000 square feet to our Surprise
location and relocate all food sorting activities to that facility; move our agency
food selection and distribution to our Thomas Road building.
Cost: 3.6 million
