Now in its eighth successful year, the Buy-A-Bird program has created considerable publicity and brand awareness for
St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix. Originally created as a supplement to the Food Bank’s holiday Turkey Drive, it gave people the option of making a donation and receiving a plush turkey doll instead of, or in addition to, lugging a frozen turkey to our facility before Thanksgiving. The funds raised through turkey sales allowed us to purchase additional frozen turkeys for our holiday food boxes.
Buy-A-Bird has since become a year-round program, continuing to provide funds for our various programs; in the last three years alone, it has generated more than $400,000 for the Food Bank, as well as garnered well more than $300,000 in media coverage.
The cost can be minimal to you…sponsors can underwrite the cost of the dolls while reaping the benefits of the buzz. And, the program can be promoted through your Web site, newsletter, e-newsletter, blog, press releases, fairs, and holiday events. Be as creative as you want to be…we even have a photo contest where participants submit photos with their turkey and the winner gets a vacation!

You can get started with an order as little as 50 birds at $250 or order more and make your money go farther, and in turn provide each doll to the public for a minimum donation of $20. This is less than most newspaper ads!
Buy-A-Bird is great to take to community fairs, sporting events, or chamber meetings…wherever you may have a table set up to get more exposure.
Pricing for Buy-A-Bird is as follows – for either Sheriff Tex or Toni Can Can:
Up to 50 birds $5/per bird
51 to 100 birds $4.50/per bird
101 to 200 birds $4.20/per bird
200 or more birds $4/per bird
The price does not include shipping cost. Pricing may vary by location.
